Word of the Year 2014

Each year I choose a word of the year to focus on.  Last year it was intentional.  Kirk and I had a very "intentional" year:

We intentionally did not go to New York with Google.
We looked intentionally at our options and decided that we would move to Dallas.
Kirk was intentional about his job choices and chose to work with his son at Longhorn Investments.
We have been very intentional about our family relationships and supporting our children.
We have been intentional about rekindling old friendships.
I have even used the word at work as trying to be intentional with my messages to parents and faculty.

SO what an interesting year it was.  New jobs, new house, health issues, and big transitions.  Also such joy in being a part of all my grand children's lives and watching my children parent extremely well.  What a blessing Kirk and my lives are to each other!  So what is the word for this year.........drum roll please.......

Tenacious

te·na·cious
[tuh-ney-shuhs]
adjective
1. holding fast; characterized by keeping a firm hold (often followed by of )
2. pertinacious, persistent, stubborn, or obstinate.
3. holding together; cohesive; not easily pulled asunder; tough

As the definition states, having tenacity means being persistent. Some people are born with tenacity. Others acquire it. Regardless, it is a key ingredient for success in life.

So I have some big goals for myself this year:  I will be a building Principal, I will lose a ton of weight, I will eat healthy- all the time, I will stay active- exercising and working out consistently, I will get involved with my new church,  and I will hold tight to my relationships with friends and family.

This will take tenacity!  I can do it! I can do it!

Everyone has inside of her a piece of good news. The good news is that you don’t know how great you can be! How much you can love! What you can accomplish! And what your potential is!
Anne Frank

Be persistent.
Don’t accept failure.
Maintain the will to succeed.

Life isn’t completely out of our control. Create your own destiny.

Count Your Blessings, Bella
